BDEW AS4 in Germany​

Market communication and scheduling in the German power and gas markets must use AS4 web services as outlined by the BDEW Profile with Smart Metering PKIcertificates. dispoConnect AS4 is our simple and effective solution for handling this

Do you need a BDEW AS4 Solution?​

You will need an AS4 Solution like dispoConnect AS4 in case:

  • You are trading Power or Gas in Germeny
  • and you have balancing group in the Germany for power or gas
  • and you have the Role “Balancing Group Responsible Party” assigned

Our Solution

dispoPower Overview

We take care about the entire setup and certification process and provide you a ready to use AS4 endpoint. You can connect to us in two different ways:

Public API and Event Streaming​

Send your messages via API and recieve messages from your counterparties via Stream or API.

SFTP​

Alternatively to the API Integration we can also provide an sFTP to exchange messages. Your business applications need simply provide and pick up the messages from the following folder structure:

  • 📁SEND

Further technical details

What is required?​

Smart Metering PKI certificates​

You will require three different certificates, which are issued by a Sub Certificate Authority (List of registered Sub-CAs).

Certificates
  1. TLS
  2. Signature
  3. Encryption

In order to request them, you need to (apart from a lot of paperwork) send a technical signed certificate request and prove to the Sub-CA, that you are able to handle the processes defined in the Smart Metering PKI. Those include (among others):

  • Compliance with encryption standards
  • Ability to check for revoked certificates
  • Renew your certificate
  • Revoke your certificate

In general, you have to renew your certificate every two years and be able to handle your partners renewals as well.

AS4 service for communication with the TSOs​

AS4 (Applicability Statement 4) is an open standard for the secure and payload-agnostic exchange of Business-to-business documents using Web services. (Wikipedia)

The AS4 profile for german power (Specification in German only) is defined by BDEW.
